JOB TITLE: Business Continuity Analyst
LOCATION: Birmingham, AL Onsite/Hybrid
DURATION: 6 months (potential to convert)
CLIENT: Fortune 200 client within the Utility/Power Sector
This position will be responsible for the management of the Technology Business Resilience program of the Technology Organization including Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery oversight, Asset Tiering, and Crisis Management strategies. This position will be a member of the Risk and Compliance team within Technology Services, reporting to the Technology Risk and Compliance Manager. The Technology Risk and Compliance team manages multiple compliance programs and provides risk management services to members of technology department.
Business Continuity Analyst Job responsibilities

  • Support the evolution of the technology department Business Resilience Program in compliance with the charter of the Our Client Business Assurance Council:
    • Partner with personnel throughout the technology organization to update the business continuity plan (BCP) and identify plan gaps at least annually
    • Develop and execute the annual exercising and testing schedule of the plan to ensure validity, record improvements and implement action plans related to identified plan development areas
    • Review and update the plan following organizational changes or when the plan has been utilized in response to a disruptive scenario.
    • Facilitate the execution of business continuity plans in partnership with technology department Leadership during actual events


  • Facilitate the technology department crisis management process considering various inter-related plans (technology department Business Continuity Plan, technology department Storm Plan / Storm Logistics Process, Disaster Recovery Plan, Critical Situation (Crit Sit) Process, Cyber Security Incident Response Plan) to maintain clear governance of the crisis management process:
    • Facilitate the technology department organization’s crisis management execution during actual events as needed
    • Coordinate communications across technology department and operating company IST team(s) for events as required
    • Effectively communicate the overall approach of crisis management and the role of the various plans to participants and appropriate stakeholders across the enterprise


  • Manage the governance of the Technology Resilience Program for our client
    • Support the development of requirements including testing, documentation, and strategies for successful program execution
    • Monitor the execution of the resilience program against established standards and report status
    • Partner with multiple teams throughout the organization to provide support in their adherence to program requirements
    • Facilitate the recovery of the organization through appropriate tiering of assets into recovery strategies commensurate with their criticality to our client

Business Continuity Analyst Education Requirements
College graduate preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in information security, information assurance, computer science, management information systems, computer information systems, or a related discipline.
Business Continuity Analyst Preferred Certifications
Industry certifications including but not limited to:

  • ABCP (Associate Business Continuity Professional)
  • CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional)
  • CDRE (Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer)
  • CFCP (Certified Functional Continuity Professional)
  • MBCP (Master Business Continuity Professional)
  • CMCS (Crisis Management Certified Specialist)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)

Business Continuity Analyst Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience in disaster recovery, business continuity or crisis management

Business Continuity Analyst Preferred Areas of Knowledge (not all required)

Disclosure:  The hourly pay range for this position is $45.00 to $58.00/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
