What caused the job opening?
- Production systems are reaching the end of life and require replacement.
What does the day to day look like?
- Working under the direction to the packet capture lead, this position will support the lifecycle replacement effort, assist in deploying new devices, and support day to day administration of APCON and Corelight platforms.
How will the contractor be using their technical skills?
- Configuring packet broker gear to ingest network span data.
- Troubleshooting monitoring sessions.
- Configuring, tuning, updating, and monitoring the health of the pack broker and NDR platforms.
Is telecommuting an option?
- This is a hybrid position. Day to day work would be remote, but this role would be expected to come into the Atlanta office about once a month for administrative and team functions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This contract position will assist in the support, monitoring, and optimization of the network packet capture infrastructure used to feed the security platforms that identify threats and reduce risks on the IT and OT networks used to provide reliable and safe energy.
This role combines knowledge of network management, network packet data aggregation, and Network Detection and Response (NDR) for the successful management and maintenance of security solutions, as well as the execution of new solutions. This role will partner closely with Network and other Security Teams, this role ensures operational excellence that enables the business to achieve its goals and objectives that are aligned with the overall enterprise technology strategy and goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the implementation, support, and optimization of the cybersecurity network packet capture infrastructure
- Assist in the implementation, support, and optimization of the Enterprise cybersecurity NDR infrastructure
- Engineer, monitor, and maintain cybersecurity solutions to ensure the resiliency and sustainability of company networks
- This position will have to support GA, AL, and MS and could have to go to any of those states occasionally.
- Liaison and collaborate with cybersecurity architecture and other groups to ensure healthy data feeds are being received and assure accuracy of the data being provided
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, and reviewing system and application logs
- Develop processes and procedures to continuously optimize security solutions
- Support security research, assessments, presentations, and security industry collaboration.
- Upgrade and maintain system updates based on vendor recommendations
- Independently troubleshoot new and unknown problems
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
- Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years of work experience in cybersecurity.
- Production experience supporting applications and collaborating with other groups
- Experience with networking and Cisco CLI commands
- Experience with NDR platforms
- Working knowledge of computer networks, firewalls, IDS/IPS, netflow, and system logging.
- The ability to evaluate and solve complex security problems and design efficient solutions using knowledge of security threats, attack vectors, vulnerabilities, and exploits.
- Demonstrate ability to learn new skills quickly and share learnings with the rest of the team.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current attack techniques, vulnerability disclosures, and data breach incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting packet broker hardware
- Experience supporting Zeek based NDR platforms
- Experience with information security frameworks and compliance standards
- Technical certification in cybersecurity
- Technical understanding of core current cybersecurity technologies as well as emerging capabilities.
