TITLE: Technical Instructional Designer

ANTICIPATION DURATON: 6 Months

LOCATION: Remote


About the Role
We are looking for an instructional designer to create content and curate content as well as manage the full life cycle of the curriculum creation process by working with instructional designers, curriculum writers, product managers, video specialists, and marketing teams to create engaging, appropriate, and effective learning experiences. Additionally, the instructional designer will partner with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, including subject matter experts, managers, external organizations and internal teams to help develop learning solutions across multiple modalities. Currently, instructional designers on the team write scripts (for filming), create/edit new educational content (which is often, but not always, about Google Applications including word processing docs, spreadsheets, slides, etc.), develop outlines, create rubrics, design lesson plans, write survey questions, design crosswalks across educational materials, build workshop presentations, make gifs, build teacher support resources, refresh curriculum, share video feedback, develop educational guides and share input on marketing/promotional asset development. 
We’re looking for someone with instructional design experience, the ability to learn new products and technologies and strong writing, communication, and project management skills. 
 
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Relevant degree or 3-5 years previous experience in education
  • Technical environment experience 
  • Interest in or passion for diversity and/or educational access and equity
  • Python familiarity
  • Previous Cyber Security experience 
  • Artificial Intelligence experience  
  • Experience and passion for curriculum development, instructional methodologies, educational tools and techniques, and their appropriate application
  • Intermediate level experience with Google Apps (like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
  • Familiarity with the K-12 education space and higher education and/or adult learning environments
  • Strong writing, project management, and communication skills
  • Willingness to work on problems that aren’t neatly defined 
  • A willingness to learn any new subject areas by working with subject matter experts 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience (K-12, postsecondary, adult/continuing education, peer to peer, tutoring, TA, etc.)
  • Experience and knowledge of computer science and programming
  • Interest in international education

Responsibilities:
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external organizations to collaborate and create curriculum to fit needs
  • Conduct needs analysis, design scalable learning solutions, guide and develop course content and evaluation strategies
  • Complete portions of the curriculum design projects with the help and support of others and/or leads the curriculum design phase from ideation to launch
  • Identify learning and performance objectives for learners, break large problems into actionable pieces for novices to understand and scaffold content for different educational audiences 
  • Manage multiple projects or a single large project with multiple dependencies and stakeholders
  • Deliver content on time and to specification in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Lead a project team or support the work of a project team developing curriculum for stakeholders
  • Work across curriculum, marketing, video, product, engineering and UX teams
  • Collaborate with domain subject matter experts to develop appropriate learning solutions for learners
 

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $50.00 to $62.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
