Job Title: Hardware Engineer

Location: Mountain View California 94043
Duration: 8-9 Months Contract

Overview

Join the Haptics and Input Sensing group building next-generation Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) hardware. As a Hardware Engineer, you’ll own the end-to-end path from prototype to mass production—driving robust performance, partnering across hardware, firmware, algorithm, and system teams, and ensuring these complex sensor systems meet strict launch timelines in high-volume consumer products.

Required Skills

  • End-to-end hardware execution from design through prototype bring-up, debugging, verification, and mass production readiness
  • Force sensing expertise, including experience with one or more of: strain, capacitive, resistive, piezo technologies
  • Mixed-signal and analog front-end design/integration, specifically experience with PGAs, ADCs, and DACs at the system level
  • Schematic capture and PCB design tools, such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or Eagle
  • Hands-on sensing system prototype work, including bring-up, debugging, characterization, and functional verification
  • Embedded C/C++ proficiency for low-level development (with understanding of memory management and micro controllers such as ARM Cortex-M, ESP32, or TI MSP430)
  • Low-level peripheral driver development for communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and PCIe
  • Lab debugging skills using standard test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, logic analyzer, digital multimeter, spectrum analyzer)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and critique electrical schematics and component datasheets

Nice to Have Skills

  • Instrumentation amplifier design and experience with Wheatstone bridge circuits for low-noise strain sensing
  • Multiphyiscs simulation experience (e.g., Ansys, COMSOL) to model structural-electrostatic interactions
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks) and tolerance analysis for complex mechanical stack-ups
  • Experience designing high volume, high quality consumer electronic products

Preferred Education and Experience

  • M.S./Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field, and a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience
  • Alternatively, a B.S. in the same fields with at least 2 years relevant industry experience (or 1 year with an advanced degree)

Other Requirements

  • Work location: Mountain View, CA — Hybrid
    • Tues–Thurs in the office
    • Mon & Fri remote
    • Preference is 5 days onsite if lab work is required
  • Work schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours
  • Technical environment requirement: 2 years in a Robotics and force sensing environment, or 1 year with an advanced degree

If you’re ready to help shape next-generation force sensor hardware from prototype to production, apply now with your resume for immediate consideration.
