Meteorologist
Digital Meteorologist
Atlanta, GA (Brookhaven) — onsite 3 days/week (Tues–Thurs)
3+month Contract (W2) — current end date: January 1, 2027
Overview
Our client is seeking a Digital Meteorologist who can develop and present weather content on camera for web, mobile app, and social video experiences. This role sits in a fast-paced digital newsroom environment—you’ll deliver clear, accurate forecasts and weather storytelling for multiple regional markets through recorded and real-time video, supported by strong editorial judgment and modern weather-graphics tools.
This is ideal for a meteorologist who enjoys being a credible, engaging on-camera “host” for digital audiences—polished and professional.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver recorded and real-time on-camera weather updates for web/app video (with some content adapted for social channels).
- Cover current conditions, forecasts, major weather events, and broader trends across multiple regional markets.
- Produce and refresh forecasts multiple times during a shift (often for ~a dozen markets).
- Build and present weather segments using graphics/presentation tools (experience with TruVu Max is a plus).
- Prepare and organize show/segment elements (graphics, maps, forecast assets) to support clean, accurate delivery.
- Proofread and coordinate updates/corrections to ensure accuracy, clarity, and readability.
- Collaborate with newsroom partners (and, at times, producer/edit support) while staying self-directed and efficient.
- Flex to support breaking weather, including severe weather and hurricane coverage as needed (which may include extended hours/weekends).
Desired On-Camera Style (Digital)
We’re looking for a polished but high energy and engaging presentation style:
- Credible and polished, but conversational and natural
- Engaging, dynamic, and personable on camera
- Professional and brand-appropriate (not overly casual or amateur)
- Able to adjust tone and format depending on web/app video vs. social
Candidates with traditional TV meteorology experience are welcome—especially if you can adapt your delivery for a more natural digital format.
Requirements
- 3+ years relevant meteorology/on-camera experience (or comparable).
- Strong forecasting fundamentals with the ability to explain patterns and impacts clearly.
- Experience presenting weather live and/or taped on camera.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Comfort working in a high-velocity newsroom environment with minimal hand-holding.
- Work samples/reel demonstrating on-camera weather presentation (digital clips strongly preferred).
Preferred
- Experience creating weather graphics and/or using systems like WSI TruVu Max (or similar platforms).
- Experience covering severe weather across seasons.
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $40 to $45 per hour (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location). Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
