ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Synergis’ client is a national leader in yard management and supply chain services, with more than 5,000 employees nationwide.  They are seeking a Site Manager to lead operations at a customer location in Davenport, Iowa.
This is a hands-on leadership role with full ownership of the site – the team, the service levels, the safety performance, and the customer relationship.  It offers real autonomy and a direct line of sight between how well the operation runs and the results it produces.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Site Manager leads safe, efficient operations at an assigned customer site, delivering high service standards through strong people leadership and a close working relationship with the customer.
This role is the primary on-site point of contact for the customer and is expected to speak credibly to site performance – what is working, what is not, and what is being done about it.
The ideal candidate is a results-driven, people-focused leader who translates operational goals into execution, develops a high-performing team, and leads by example.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Operations
  • Lead safe, efficient, and consistent operations at the assigned customer site.
  • Monitor performance metrics, drive process improvements, and resolve issues affecting service levels.
  • Manage scheduling and coverage across shifts to maintain service continuity.
  • Provide clear, regular operational feedback to area and regional leadership.
Customer Relationship
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the customer, including participation in regular operational meetings.
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with customer leadership.
  • Communicate proactively on performance, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate logistics activities with internal and external partners.
People Leadership and Development
  • Lead, train, and manage the site team.
  • Own recruiting, hiring, onboarding, team building, mentoring, and ongoing coaching at the site.
  • Train new drivers and retrain veteran drivers to maintain safety, service, and performance standards.
  • Hold the team accountable to safety standards and performance expectations consistently and fairly.
Safety and Equipment
  • Understand, identify, and prevent critical safety issues.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in safe, working condition and coordinate repairs with vendors.
  • Maintain current awareness of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
Reporting and Performance
  • Review operational reporting and interpret what it indicates about site performance.
  • Identify performance variance, determine root cause, and act on it.
  • Maintain accurate data entry and documentation supporting site operations.
  • Maintain visibility into site-level budget items such as maintenance and repair.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Valid CDL A license required.
  • Previous supervisory or site leadership experience in transportation, logistics, 3PL, warehousing, or a comparable operations environment.  Candidates will typically bring three or more years of frontline leadership.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and the composure to maintain a customer relationship under pressure.
  • Ability to read and interpret operational reporting and act on what it shows.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.  Familiarity with E-Plan and Geotab is a plus.
  • Experience using or willingness to learn approved AI and automation tools is a plus.
  • Leadership skills spanning recruiting, hiring, team building, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead by example.
  • Solutions oriented, with sound critical thinking and an ownership mindset.
  • Strong ethics and integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to devote the hours necessary to complete the task at hand.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Base salary range of $70,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Quarterly bonus program equal to one week of salary per quarter, which works out to roughly 7.5% annually on top of base.
