ANTICIPATED DURATION: 5 months
As an Associate Site Operations Engineer you will have demonstrated communication skills, an eye to automate and document routine tasks, and display an ability to spot long-term trends in a production web environment ¬to help promote our company’s aggressive global growth.
Associate Site Operations Engineer Responsibilities:
- Proactively monitor availability and performance of our client’s application stack and infrastructure using key homegrown and commercially available tools.
- Efficiently respond to monitoring alerts, incident tickets, and email/phone/irc requests to NOC operations and triage/escalate issues as needed.
- Adeptly perform application and website troubleshooting to quickly resolve issues by documented procedures.
- Candidly work with SRE and Development teams, as well as coordinate/communicate/manage notifications and updates of issues affecting site availability/performance to customers and executive management
- Effectively ensure smooth and complete handoffs between shifts.
- Flexible schedule availability to meet the needs of a 24 x 7 Operations environment, weekends may be required
Associate Site Operations Engineer Requirements:
- 2+ years' experience in Unix/Linux system management
- 2+ years' experience with scripting and automation
- Incident Management / customer support engineer / internal support – possible for Saturday or Sunday
Associate Site Operations Engineer Preferred Experience:
- Effective team player to be able to work closely with peers and other operations or engineering teams
- Prior experience in a 24×7 operations environment in a large scale multi-billion dollar company.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to multitask in an interrupt-driven, real-time environment
- Interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills – both written and verbal
- Identifies and automates repetitious tasks and processes to improve issue resolution time.
- Documents and streamlines existing processes and implements new processes.
- Enhances and/or builds utilities/tools (together with SRE) to increase productivity.
- Understanding and programming experience in Java/J2EE applications –
- Working knowledge of network concepts, IPv6, TCP/IP stack and common Internet protocols
