E-Commerce Business Analyst Responsibilities:
- Partner with product/digital, merchandising, sales, marketing, customer care, operations, finance, and IT to clarify e-commerce vision, roadmap, and release plans.
- Facilitate discovery and requirements workshops; define scope, business outcomes, KPIs (e.g. conversion, AOV, CAC, LTV, cart abandonment, repeat rate, fulfillment SLAs), and success criteria.
- Translate customer journeys and funnel analysis into prioritized features and enhancements that improve conversion and retention.
- Elicit, document, and refine epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; maintain a transparent and prioritized backlog.
- Evaluate platform capabilities and third-party solutions, build business cases and cost/benefit analyses.
- Design light-weight prototypes/wireframes and process maps to communicate concepts and align stakeholders.
- Define analytics and tagging strategies (e.g., GA4/Adobe Analytics, GTM), event schemas, and data governance to ensure consistent and accurate reporting.
- Contribute to standards and best practices for requirements management, change control, and release quality.
- Anticipate and assess risks; ensure compliance with PCI DSS, GDPR/CCPA, and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Author clear BRDs/FRDs, user stories, process flows, systems diagrams, and API/data integration specifications.
- Partner with engineering and vendors to design solutions across core e-commerce domains: catalog/PIM, search and browse, PDP/PLP, promotions/pricing, cart/checkout, payments (cards, wallets, BNPL), tax, shipping and rate shopping, order management, fulfillment, returns/RMA, subscriptions, loyalty, reviews/UGC, and personalization.
- Manage and validate integrations across ERP/OMS/WMS, PIM, CRM/CDP/ESP, analytics, fraud, marketplaces, and content platforms; ensure interoperability (REST/GraphQL, webhooks, EDI where applicable).
- Ensure site performance and experience quality; incorporate Core Web Vitals and SEO/structured data best practices into requirements.
- Create and execute test plans and test cases; coordinate stakeholder UAT; validate data flows and calculations; support regression testing for critical paths (search, add-to-cart, checkout, payments, order status).
- Lead triage and root cause analysis for production issues; document findings and drive remediation and prevention.
- Communicate changes, impacts, and timelines through concise documentation and stakeholder updates across multiple business departments; maintain artifacts in shared repositories.
- Prepare training and adoption materials for business users (e.g., sales, marketing, customer support) and support post‑launch hypercare.
- Coordinate with vendors and system integrators; define deliverables, SLAs, and acceptance criteria; track performance to commitments.
- Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience),
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst supporting e-commerce, retail, or direct‑to‑consumer initiatives.
- Experience facilitating cross‑functional workshops and communicating with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Critical thinking and root cause analysis: ability to diagnose issues, summarize findings, and propose action plans within scope.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines in Agile environments; experience with Jira/Confluence or similar tools.
- Self-directed; requires limited oversight; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in CPG, e-commerce or retail operations, including DTC fulfillment, and omnichannel capabilities
- Understanding of project management practices and vendor/SI management.
- Experience with data architecture design, schemas, and reporting/dashboard construction and design
