TITLE: Senior Application Analyst
LOCATION: Atlanta, Ga.
DURATION: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with Power Delivery, Customer Service and Metering Services business units and the Technology Organization for the development and support of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Metering applications and infrastructure.
  • Ensuring timely, reliable, quality solutions and support for the Metering and AMI business customers.
  • Providing functional and technical subject matter expertise for Metering and AMI applications.
  • Performing problem analysis and resolution (production support), root cause analysis, and implementing vendor solutions.
  • Providing input to application life cycle management.
  • Overseeing the design, development, testing, and implementation of application solutions.
  • Staying informed of emerging computer technologies and business process changes.
  • Managing production deployments, verification testing, and user implementation support.
  • Coordinating user acceptance testing and bug tracking.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving application quality issues.
  • Supporting application life cycle management and release planning.
  • Ensuring compliance and change management controls.
  • Supporting application vendor interface and support.
  • Participating in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Occasional travel within the Southern Company footprint is required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with peers, management, vendors, and internal customer groups.

  • B.S., B.A., or B.B.A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business, or related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how application frameworks and other technologies meet business needs.
  • Experience supporting Linux-based systems, creating/updating shell scripts preferred.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE, C#/.Net.
  • Good understanding of REST/SOAP Web Services.
  • Familiarity with Windows Azure and/or Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with Oracle databases, SQL, PL/SQL, and query performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of business functions within organizations supported by the team (Metering and AMI).
  • Understanding of technology solutions impacting business partners.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Experience supporting vendor applications highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of technical environments and software methods.
  • Power Delivery/Customer service experience either directly or in a support role desired.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with supporting Linux based systems and creating/updating shell scripts.
  • Experience with Java/J2EE, C#/.Net.
  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP Web Services.
  • Knowledge of Windows Azure and/or Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with Oracle databases, SQL, PL/SQL, and query performance tuning.
  • Supporting vendor applications.
  • Power Delivery/Customer Service support roles.

The compensation range for this position is dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location. Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
