Principal Cloud Application Engineer Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop large-scale applications and systems using cloud and traditional integrations.
- Perform hands-on development of cloud applications and integration solutions across multiple platforms.
- Research, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues while recommending effective interventions or modifications.
- Ensure all work processes and products meet Kaiser Permanente IT standards.
- Contribute to the development of cloud application reference architectures and design patterns.
- Recommend and implement cloud and integration best practices.
- Lead technical proof-of-concept (POC) activities to explore and validate new technologies.
- Collaborate closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise-wide business solutions.
- 8+ years of progressive IT experience with proven success in architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.
- 5+ years of experience developing cloud applications on platforms such as Cloud Foundry/IBM Bluemix, AWS, or GCP.
- Strong experience developing microservices using Java, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, and Spring frameworks.
- Solid experience in developing UI/UX components (SPAs, MPAs) with tools such as React/Redux, Angular, and HTML5.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices, including automated testing using Git, Jenkins, or similar tools.
- 3+ years of developer-level experience with API management solutions (IBM APIConnect/DataPower, Apigee, or similar).
- Strong ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies; proven experience developing prototypes/POCs.
- Must have deployed production-ready applications and supported complete project lifecycles.
- Excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills and strong communication abilities.
- Willingness to learn, share knowledge, and collaborate effectively.
- Experience with mobile application development.
- Familiarity with healthcare and/or insurance industry systems.
- Experience documenting tests, prototypes, operational readiness guides, and completed work.
- Knowledge of IBM BPM/ODM, digitalML IgniteXML products (a plus).
- Strong team collaboration skills.
