Design Director

Director of Product Design (Digital Platforms)

Location: Atlanta, GA or New York, NY (Hybrid, 2–3 days onsite per week)

Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Design Leader to guide the strategy and execution of cross-platform digital experiences—including mobile apps, web, and emerging platforms. This role will shape how millions of users engage with real-time information, interactive content, and dynamic visual data. The ideal leader has a strong product mindset, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for simplifying complex information through elegant, scalable design.

Experience working with maps, geospatial data, or location-based visualizations is a major plus.

Relocation may be considered for exceptional candidates.

What You’ll Lead

• Define and drive the end-to-end design strategy across mobile, web, and next-generation platforms.

• Lead a team of product designers, fostering a culture of craft excellence, clarity, and user-centered thinking.

• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Executive stakeholders to shape vision, set priorities, and influence roadmap direction.

• Oversee the creation of intuitive, visually compelling experiences that simplify complex datasets—especially in geospatial or map-based interfaces.

• Elevate design quality and consistency across all surfaces, ensuring strong alignment with brand guidelines and platform capabilities.

• Implement and refine design systems to support scalability, efficiency, and cohesive multi-platform execution.

• Champion experimentation, usability, accessibility, and emerging technology opportunities within the design team.

What You Bring

• 8–12+ years of experience in digital product design, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity.

• Demonstrated success leading design strategy across mobile and web, with exposure to emerging or immersive platforms (e.g., connected TV, wearables, interactive displays).

• Strong understanding of UX principles, visual design, interaction design, and design systems at scale.

• Experience designing with maps, geospatial data, or complex information visualization is highly preferred.

• Ability to lead through influence, collaborate across disciplines, and inspire teams with clear vision and storytelling.

• Expert proficiency with modern design tools (Figma, prototyping tools, systems management tools, etc.).

• Strong presentation and communication skills, especially when engaging senior stakeholders.

  The compensation range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000
  (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
