Design Systems Designer (Native Mobile / Design Ops)

Location: Atlanta, GA — Onsite 5 days/week
Type: W2 Contract-to-Hire (long term)
Duration: 12+ months with potential for extension or conversion

About the Role

We’re seeking a Design Systems Designer with a Native Mobile Design Ops focus to join a growing team of designers and developers supporting a large-scale, enterprise mobile app ecosystem. This role is centered around design systems for native applications (iOS and Android) — not web — requiring deep knowledge of mobile platform nuances, release processes, and technical implementation constraints.

You’ll play a key role in building, scaling, and governing the native design system that supports multiple concurrent product teams, ensuring visual and experiential consistency across all mobile surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Design, evolve, and document a comprehensive native mobile design system (iOS + Android) used across multiple design and engineering teams.

  • Develop and maintain Figma components, patterns, and libraries that align with mobile platform standards and design tokens.

  • Partner closely with engineers to ensure accurate component implementation, maintaining fidelity between design and development.

  • Define and enforce governance models, workflows, and version control processes to ensure consistency, scalability, and quality.

  • Contribute to design operations initiatives, optimizing team efficiency and ensuring seamless collaboration across design, engineering, and product.

  • Document system usage, component behavior, and platform differences in Confluence or equivalent tools.

  • Support cross-platform parity efforts while respecting native platform guidelines and release cadences.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Native mobile expertise: Deep understanding of both iOS and Android design paradigms, technical constraints, and app release processes.

  • Design Systems experience: Proven success designing, scaling, and governing complex, enterprise-level native app design systems.

  • Design Ops proficiency: Experience establishing design workflows, versioning strategies, and governance practices for large distributed teams.

  • Tools mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Figma, Jira, and Confluence — particularly within a native app release environment.

  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and QA engineers.

  • Exceptional documentation, communication, and organization skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with design tokens, component libraries, and mobile accessibility standards.

  • Familiarity with motion design principles and prototyping for native interactions.

  • Prior experience in a large-scale DesignOps or system governance role.
