Role Overview
The Solutions Engineer (Contractor) role is a U.S.-based remote position focused on providing technical content review, consulting, and content development support for the creation of entry-level job readiness programs called Skills Tracks. Our mission is to help increase access to high-quality and industry-relevant hands-on learning experiences that help learners master the technical skills they need to reach their goals.
We’re looking for a Solutions Engineer (Contractor) who will work alongside a team of Solutions Engineers, Instructional Designers, Assessment Designers, and Subject Matter Experts to review online teaching content and assessments, consult on technical platform solutions and best practices, and provide actionable feedback to our subject matter experts. The candidate should have experience working with STEM subject-matter experts and be comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This role will support the production of IT, Generative AI, Computer Science, and Engineering domains, where a background in STEM (whether through formal education or relevant industry experience) is required.
Responsibilities
- Gather Technical Specifications & Requirements for Assessments: Advise and consult with Subject Matter Experts and Assessment Designers on technical requirements to support skill mastery goals and learning objectives for each assigned course.
- Map Technical Requirements to Platform Solutions: Onboard to the clients technical learning feature set, including Assessments, AI-Grading, and Code Blocks. Use this knowledge to help consult on and brainstorm effective platform solutions.
- Support the development and advancement of high-quality AI Grading tools: Leverage your technical expertise and creativity to help shape and create high-quality, high-accuracy grading systems and rubrics at scale that assess authentic learner skill mastery.
- Review and conduct quality assurance on course content and assessments: Use your industry perspective and internal audit tools to validate and provide feedback on content quality and real-world authenticity of the content. Perform QA and end-to-end testing on AI-assessments to ensure they are functional, meet technical requirements, and adhere to a set of predefined best practices and quality standards.
- Provide actionable feedback to subject matter experts and designers: Constructively communicate technical best practices and flags to internal partners during build to ensure smooth and high-quality project delivery and outcomes.
- Communicate & Document Product Enhancements & Feedback: Document and communicate product enhancements that could improve the technical build and learning and assessment experience to our internal product and engineering teams.
Qualifications
Skills Required for this position:

Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience, including at least 2+ years of technical experience
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript and programming proficiency in Python, Java, or another programming language, comfort with CLI tools
- Prior teaching, instructional design experience, or experience working in an academic environment, such as a TA.
- Intermediate knowledge in the following IT topics: Cybersecurity, Computer Systems Engineering and Architecture, Network Engineering, and IT Support
- Demonstrated experience with Generative AI tools, Agents, and Prompt Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in efficiently debugging and troubleshooting code
- Knowledge of software build and testing best practices
- Strong bias for action, and strong time management and communication skills in fast-paced environments
- Business acumen for consulting and demonstrated ability to build strong rapport with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks, Visual Studio Code
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $55.00 to $62.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
