TITLE: QA Engineer (Automation) III
LOCATION: Cupertino, CA (Hybrid)
ANTICIPATED DURATION: From 03/09/2026 to 10/16/2026
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute manual and automated tests on hardware devices to validate system functionality and performance.
- Report and file issues in the issue tracking system with relevant urgency and detailed information.
- Design and recommend logging telemetry to improve failure triaging efficiency and gather quality metrics.
- Participate and/or drive post mortem discussions to think strategically about preventing similar issues in the future.
- Collaborate with development and quality engineers to test complex health features on next version of Watch hardware and watchOS.
- Build and maintain testing infrastructure to support quality assurance efforts.
- Execute tests in a timely manner to provide fast and actionable feedback to the development teams.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in consumer hardware and software test engineering, utilizing manual and automated methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective defect identification and resolution.
- Experience diagnosing and debugging complex hardware and software systems.
- Practical proficiency in shell/CLI methodology, version control systems such as Git, and some experience in test automation (Python and XCTest).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, networking, negotiating, and documentation skills.
- Ability to think creatively and innovate solutions to sophisticated problems.
- Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about high-quality products and user-focused design.
- Good Python programming experience preferred but not required.
- Experience managing device labs and testing embedded systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with health-regulated device/software testing, digital signal processing, and troubleshooting at system or algorithm level is desirable.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with managing a device lab hosting multiple test devices.
- Experience testing embedded systems or health-regulated devices/software.
- Familiarity with digital signal processing.
- Debugging and troubleshooting system-level or algorithm-level failures.
The hourly pay rate for this position is $60.00 to $76.11 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
