Real-Time Control & Data Acquisition (RCDA) Engineer (EMS/SCADA) – Direct Hire
Location: Tucker, GA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Travel: Up to ~15% (within GA and for training)

Overview
We’re hiring a Real-Time Control & Data Acquisition Engineer to join the Energy Control Systems (ECS) organization, supporting the Real-time Control and Data Acquisition (RCDA) team. This team is responsible for ensuring the Energy Management System (EMS) accurately represents generation, transmission, and distribution assets so control room operators can reliably monitor the grid, manage alarms/events, and dispatch resources using accurate real-time data.

What you’ll do

  • Implement, maintain, and support generation/transmission/distribution projects within an EMS/SCADA environment in accordance with RCDA standards
  • Perform engineering reviews and troubleshooting related to:
    • EMS databases (design, integrity, accuracy)
    • Communications integrity and protocol performance
    • Metering data timeliness/quality and real-time data reliability
  • Lead or contribute significantly to engineering analysis efforts; provide technical leadership and guidance to team members
  • Serve as a technical resource to operating, design, and field personnel
  • Partner with internal groups and external organizations on EMS/SCADA planning, standards, policies, and procedures
  • Support consulting/design services for member organizations as needed

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering strongly preferred)
  • Level III and above:
    • 4+ years (Level III) / 6+ years (Level IV) / 8+ years (Level V) of EMS/SCADA experience including deployment, system design, communications protocols, and database/display design
    • 4+ years (Level III) / 6+ years (Level IV) / 8+ years (Level V) in power system operations
  • Preferred: Experience with GE/Alstom EMS
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized Status

Technical skills (key areas)

  • Strong understanding of 3-phase power systems, phasor diagrams, and power calculations
  • Metering installations/calculations; RTUs and configuration
  • Data communications and SCADA protocols (DNP3)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for system/data integrity issues in operational environments
  • Database and data tools: MS Access, SQL, Oracle (plus basic UNIX commands and scripting familiarity)
  • Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics; proficiency with CAD tools and MS Office
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and communication skills

Compensation & benefits (Direct Hire)

  • Base salary is level-dependent 
  • Bonus: target ~20%

The compensation range for this position is competitive base salary, bonus, pension, 401K, etc. 
(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
