TITLE: Senior Telecom Project Manager
LOCATION: Birmingham, AL
ANTICIPATED DURATION: From 05/18/2026 to 05/04/2029
Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated support to all projects from conception to completion, including early planning and feasibility phases
- Work closely with the Generation Technical Shared Services organization and project teams to develop scope documents, cost estimates, planning and execution documents, budgets, schedules, and close-out documentation
- Ensure communication needs are addressed by collaborating with Power Delivery and other groups
- Submit requests for TO resources to be assigned to each project
- Conduct kickoff meetings, planning meetings, update meetings, and presentations to business partners
- Coordinate activities of assigned resources to meet deadlines and milestones
- Review documents for adherence to company and industry standards
- Attend TSS calls and meetings to provide updates and stay informed on project developments
- Plan, request quotes, coordinate contractor activities, manage purchase orders, and track costs using Maximo and Oracle ERP as needed
- Facilitate final project close-out and turnover to plant and Field Operations teams, including walk-downs if necessary
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field is preferred, or a two-year associate degree in electronics technology or significant experience in IT Telecommunications/Data Networking
- PMP or other project management certification is recommended
- 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications or related fields
- Experience in a project management role, whether official or unofficial, is highly desired
- Plant and/or construction experience is also highly desired
- Demonstrated safety record and attention to wellness
Preferred Experience:
- Extensive technical skills related to data, voice, telecommunications, and networking technologies; knowledge of BICSI standards is helpful
- Knowledge of plant operational technologies such as Distributed Control Systems, revenue metering, switchgear protection, vibration monitoring, physical security systems (cameras, card readers)
- Sound understanding of Cyber Security principles for telecom and network system design and construction (CIP certification considered advantageous)
- Understanding of end-user technologies and support processes (PCs, printers, core software, vendor connectivity, wireless systems)
- Working knowledge of accounting processes and procedures (Enterprise Foundations tools)
- Leadership skills to effectively collaborate with others
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage work efficiently
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities
- Documentation skills, familiar with system documentation practices and tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, PowerPoint, and optionally Documentum, Bridge, PDMS
- Customer service orientation to meet internal customer needs effectively
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $55.00 to $65.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
