Sr. Cyber Data Protection Engineer
TITLE: Proofpoint Data Protection Engineer
LOCATION: Remote – no travel
ANTICIPATED DURATION: From 02/09/2026 to 12/31/2026
Responsibilities:
- Engineer, deploy, and support Proofpoint technologies for a healthcare organization.
- Administer and support a full Proofpoint deployment, including email protection, targeted attack protection, threat response, and data loss prevention.
- Monitor system health, performance, and message queues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Investigate and respond to email security incidents such as phishing, malware, and ransomware.
- Support risk assessments, audits, and compliance reporting related to email security.
- Operate within ITIL processes including incident, problem, change management, and request fulfillment.
- Provide customer-focused support to end users, IT teams, and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or minimum two (2-3) years of experience in IT or cybersecurity.
- 2-3 years of engineering level experience within the Proofpoint email security product space.
- Strong knowledge of Proofpoint products and administration.
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange (on-premises and cloud).
- Understanding of email protocols (SMTP, TLS, SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
- Familiarity with DLP, encryption, phishing defense, and threat analysis.
- Experience with SIEM tools and log analysis preferred.
- Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python) a plus.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience supporting hybrid (on-premises and cloud) email environments.
- Experience in healthcare or regulated industries.

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $70.00 to $80.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
