The contract designer will be responsible for the following work streams, which are integral to our 2025 and 2026 product roadmaps:
Support Driving Navigation:
– Finalize production design and asset delivery to engineering.
– Maneuver Landmarks Styling: Complete and implement the final visual styling for landmarks in 2D, 2.5D, and 3D across all relevant configurations.
Walking Navigation:
– Core User Experience Design: Lead the design and polish of the core 3D walking navigation experience, leveraging hero use cases.
– Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with product leads to identify design adaptations and data gaps needed for walking journeys.
– Visual Direction and Prototyping: Collaborate with the visual design team on concepts for leadership review and create coded prototypes to pressure-test design hypotheses with Engineering.
Project & Team Support:
– Support Design needs at scale helping designers across the team expand capacity in design and collaborative development.
– Provide continuity by actively participating in design critiques, planning sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
– Serve as a daily point of contact for cross-functional partners.
– Ensure quality control by conducting necessary design reviews and providing detailed feedback.
Mandatory Skills or Qualifications / Minimum role qualifications requirement:
– 6 years of motion design experience in product design or UX/UI animation.
– Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link and/or access instructions).
– Senior-level UX execution with a proven track record of bringing products to launch.
– Deep understanding of cartographic, typographic, and complex design systems.
– Ability to drive design decisions and execute against them in close partnership with Product and Engineering leads.
– Some web-coding background, particularly in CSS, to facilitate work using internal coding systems.
– Exceptional communication skills to present and defend design rationale to stakeholders and leadership.
– Bonus: Experience designing for the map or driving/walking navigation systems is a significant advantage.
