Senior UX Designer – Design Systems (Contract)

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – 4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Contract Type: W2 Contract
Duration: 6+ months (potential extension)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to focus on advancing the design system for a large-scale e-commerce platform. This role is critical in shaping and scaling the system that powers both web and mobile experiences, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and a unified design language across products.

As part of the UX team, you’ll collaborate with product designers, engineers, and accessibility partners to define standards, create reusable components, and document best practices. Your work will enable teams across the organization to build faster, maintain consistency, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of the design system, delivering reusable patterns, components, and guidelines.

• Partner with product designers and engineers to identify system gaps and define scalable solutions.

• Ensure the design system supports both mobile-first and responsive web experiences.

• Document usage standards and best practices, making the system easy for teams to adopt.

• Contribute to accessibility standards and ensure compliance across components.

• Provide mentorship and advocacy for design system adoption across the UX team.

• Continuously evaluate and improve system health through audits, feedback loops, and research.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of UX/UI design experience with a portfolio demonstrating design system or component library work.

• Expert in Figma and related design/prototyping tools.

• Strong understanding of responsive design and mobile-first principles.

• Experience partnering closely with engineers to bring system components to life.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on design systems for large-scale consumer apps or e-commerce platforms.

• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA) and inclusive design practices.

• Background in design operations or scaling UX practices across distributed teams.

The hourly pay range for this position (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location) is $50.00 to $70.00/hr.  Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
