IT Program / Project Manager (Contract)

Duration: 6-month contract
Work Arrangement: Fully remote
Hours: Standard business hours, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced IT Program / Project Manager to lead and coordinate complex software initiatives from planning through execution and delivery. This role blends hands-on project leadership with program-level oversight to ensure alignment with business goals, technical strategy, and delivery excellence across multiple teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define project and program scope, objectives, milestones, and success metrics
- Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project plans, schedules, and resource allocations
- Lead the delivery of multiple concurrent software and infrastructure projects, proactively managing dependencies, risks, and issues
- Monitor project performance, budgets, timelines, and KPIs; implement corrective actions when needed
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, QA, operations) and external vendors to ensure seamless execution
- Provide clear, concise status updates and risk assessments to both technical teams and executive stakeholders
- Establish and standardize program management processes, driving consistency and continuous improvement
- Facilitate post-project reviews, capturing lessons learned and applying insights to future initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience managing complex software projects and programs
- Project management certifications preferred (PMP, PgMP, CSM, or equivalent Agile/Scrum certification)
- Strong understanding of the full SDLC, Agile and DevOps practices, cloud platforms, and modern software architecture
- Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale software solutions and/or SaaS products
- Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery environments
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, MS Project, and similar platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details for executive audiences
- Highly self-motivated professional with a proven ability to drive results independently in a fast-paced environment
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $60-65 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
