TITLE: Laboratory Field Service Technician

LOCATION: Atlanta, Ga. 

From 06/15/2026 to 01/31/2026

Responsibilities:

  • Perform complete hardware installation, network and assay configuration, and customization of diagnostic equipment at hospital and clinical laboratory sites across the U.S.
  • Execute physical placement, unboxing, setup, power/network connection, and initial power-on checks (~4 hours per device).
  • Prepare and complete verification studies on instrumentation, including calibration, precision studies, and method comparisons (~8 hours per device).
  • Deliver hands-on, on-site customer training (2-6 hours per site) to Key Operators on instrument operation, workflow, QC/verification, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Reinforce proper use and maintenance of instrumentation; confirm operator competency prior to go-live.
  • Perform Level 1 IT tasks: physical cabling, IP/DHCP configuration, network connectivity testing (ping, port validation), and system power-up verification.
  • Participate in Level 2 IT activities as needed: middleware/LIS connectivity setup, HL7 messaging validation, and end-to-end data flow testing with site IT teams.
  • Conduct pre-implementation site readiness assessments: confirm space/utilities, power/network readiness, access/credentialing, and shipping/receiving status.
  • Serve as primary implementation point of contact for 4-6 post-installation touchpoints per customer during the 60-day post-go-live period; conduct bi-weekly check-ins.
  • Coordinate escalations to the client’s service team per thresholds and escalation pathways; support formal handoff to standard customer support.
  • Complete all required documentation using OBI, Salesforce, and SharePoint; maintain accurate records and checklists.
  • Comply with all site-specific vendor credentialing requirements (Vendormate or equivalent, background check, immunizations, HIPAA training).

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in clinical laboratory/diagnostic instrumentation or a related field.
  • Associate degree or higher in a technical, biomedical, instrumentation, electrical engineering, or related field; military experience considered.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with experience installing and validating diagnostic equipment.
  • Level 1 IT capability: physical setup, cabling verification, IP configuration, basic connectivity testing, system boot/power-up.
  • Level 2 IT participation: middleware/LIS connectivity setup, HL7 messaging validation, troubleshooting with site IT.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and work within field documentation systems (Salesforce, SharePoint, OBI).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, self-sufficient, and able to operate independently across multiple sites.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the United States (up to 90%; weekend travel may be required).
  • Ability to lift, lower, and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted; perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (last 3 years).
– Experience with urinalysis, chemistry, or immunoassay analyzers; familiarity with Beckman Coulter DxU or similar platforms. – Experience performing calibration and verification studies using statistical tools such as EP Evaluator. – Familiarity with middleware platforms such as Remisol or Beaker, and support of LIS/middleware connectivity. – Prior experience working in hospital or clinical environments; knowledge of security, infection control, and access protocols. – Experience navigating vendor credentialing platforms (Vendormate, Intelacentrics, or similar). – Experience with network architecture; comfort with HL7 messaging and LIS interface testing.

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $40.00 to $48.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
