TITLE: Engineer, Substation Design (Physical)
LOCATION: Atlanta, GA/Tucker, GA
ANTICIPATED DURATION: From 08/03/2026 to 02/05/2027
Responsibilities:
- Performs physical design or structural design of electrical power substations.
- Creates drawings, specifications, and contract documents for construction or fabrication.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard design techniques, procedures, and criteria required for design.
- May represent engineering as part of a corporate team on assignments with clear and specific objectives.
- Assists senior engineers in training new design associates.
- Develops new design specifications for approval by senior engineers.
- Develops physical or structural design packages for complex substation projects based on standardized design criteria.
- Develops contract documents used for facility construction.
- Assists in engineering special projects requiring application of standardized designs and specifications, leading some projects.
- Participates in project development and develops project cost estimates and schedules.
- Interfaces with project management teams and other companies to ensure project coordination.
- Coordinates design activities with other disciplines, departments, and external companies.
- Assists in the development and implementation of new design standards, specifications, and process improvements.
- Assists in design reviews of packages prepared by others.
- Provides technical and procedural guidance to other design associates.
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering (Civil strongly preferred)
- Minimum 3+ years of experience designing physical substations in electric utility
- AutoCAD 2D proficiency
- Bonus: EIT Certification
- Primtech 3D experience

the hourly pay rate range for this position is $40.00 to $65.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
