Principal UX Designer
Principal UX Designer – B2B eCommerce & Digital Experience
Location: Atlanta, GA
Employment Type: W2 Contract
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Principal UX Designer to lead research-driven experience strategy and product discovery for a large-scale B2B eCommerce platform.
This role focuses on creating intuitive, connected digital experiences for professional and business customers navigating complex purchasing journeys, account management, and online commerce workflows.
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of UX research, experience strategy, product discovery, and digital product design expertise, with the ability to operate independently and influence product direction at the executive level.
This is not a purely strategic or hands-on UI production role. We’re looking for a seasoned UX leader who can bridge customer insights, business objectives, and product execution—someone equally comfortable leading discovery, shaping future-state experiences, and partnering with designers and engineers to bring solutions to life.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead UX strategy and experience design initiatives across complex B2B eCommerce and digital product experiences.
-
Independently plan, conduct, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative UX research to uncover customer needs, behaviors, pain points, and opportunities.
-
Own problem discovery, opportunity identification, concept exploration, and solution discovery to inform product direction.
-
Translate research findings and business objectives into actionable experience strategies, product recommendations, and future-state concepts.
-
Evaluate and improve complex professional customer journeys, including digital purchasing experiences, account workflows, and other B2B commerce interactions.
-
Partner closely with Product Management, UX/UI Designers, Engineering, and business stakeholders to connect experience strategy with product roadmaps and delivery.
-
Guide the development of user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction models that translate strategic direction into tangible web and mobile experiences.
-
Facilitate discovery workshops, collaborative working sessions, and stakeholder alignment discussions.
-
Present research insights, experience concepts, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
-
Navigate complex organizational structures, build trusted relationships, and influence product decisions across multiple teams.
-
Balance long-term experience vision with immediate product priorities, ensuring solutions are customer-centered, technically feasible, and aligned with business goals.
-
Provide UX leadership throughout the product lifecycle, supporting design quality and consistency from discovery through implementation.
Required Qualifications
-
Extensive experience in UX Design, Product Design, or Experience Strategy, with demonstrated leadership at the Staff, Lead, or Principal level.
-
Strong mixed-methods UX research expertise, including the ability to independently own research planning, execution, synthesis, and strategic recommendations.
-
Proven experience leading end-to-end product discovery, from problem definition and customer research through concept development and solution validation.
-
Experience designing or shaping complex customer-facing digital products, including websites, web applications, or mobile experiences.
-
Strong understanding of interaction design, information architecture, user flows, prototyping, and human-centered design principles.
-
Demonstrated ability to translate research insights into actionable product strategy and execution-ready experience direction.
-
Experience partnering with Product Management, Engineering, and cross-functional teams in agile product environments.
-
Exceptional stakeholder management, executive communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
-
Ability to independently navigate ambiguity, prioritize opportunities, and drive complex initiatives with minimal oversight.
-
Proficiency with Figma and modern UX research, design, and collaboration tools.
-
Portfolio showcasing research-driven product strategy, end-to-end UX leadership, and measurable customer or business outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with B2B eCommerce, digital commerce, retail technology, or professional customer platforms.
-
Understanding of complex purchasing journeys, customer account experiences, order management, or business purchasing workflows.
-
Experience designing products that support multiple customer types, business needs, and sophisticated transactional workflows.
-
Background working within large-scale enterprise organizations with multiple product teams and executive stakeholders.
-
Experience with customer journey mapping, service design, and future-state experience planning.
-
Consulting experience or a demonstrated ability to quickly integrate into complex product environments.
What Success Looks Like
-
Independently lead research and discovery initiatives that uncover meaningful opportunities to improve the B2B digital customer experience.
-
Establish strong relationships with product leaders and executive stakeholders, becoming a trusted voice in experience strategy.
-
Translate complex customer needs and business challenges into clear, actionable product recommendations.
-
Connect strategic experience thinking with tangible digital product improvements.
-
Effectively partner with design and engineering teams to guide solutions from concept through execution.
-
Influence product priorities and help deliver scalable, intuitive experiences that create measurable customer and business value.
