AI Conversation Designer / Content Strategist

About the Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced AI Conversation Designer / Content Strategist to help create intelligent, intuitive, and engaging customer experiences powered by conversational AI.

This is not a traditional UX writing role. We're looking for someone who understands how to architect conversations, anticipate customer needs, and design guided experiences that help users navigate complex decisions.

You'll work at the intersection of content strategy, interaction design, and emerging AI technology, helping shape how customers engage with intelligent digital products.

What You'll Do

• Design conversational experiences that guide customers through complex questions, decisions, and product journeys.

• Develop conversation flows, dialogue structures, decision trees, and interaction patterns for AI-powered experiences.

• Define how AI experiences respond to different customer intents, inputs, and needs.

• Partner with UX Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and AI-focused teams to translate customer problems into intuitive solutions.

• Create content strategies that support personalized, context-aware customer interactions.

• Prototype and iterate on conversational experiences using customer feedback and usability insights.

• Establish conversational design principles, patterns, and guidelines that can scale across digital products.

• Consider error handling, clarification, fallback responses, and conversational recovery.

• Explore emerging AI capabilities and identify opportunities to improve customer experiences.

What We're Looking For

• Strong professional experience in Conversation Design, Content Design, UX Content Strategy, or AI Experience Design.

• Hands-on experience designing conversational interfaces, AI assistants, chatbots, or intelligent guided experiences.

• Understanding of generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and conversational interaction patterns.

• Experience mapping complex conversation flows and customer decision journeys.

• Ability to structure content and interactions around user intent, context, and goals.

• Strong understanding of UX principles, information architecture, and interaction design.

• Experience collaborating with Product, Design, Engineering, and technical AI teams.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and storytelling skills.

• Portfolio or work samples demonstrating conversational experience design.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing customer-facing generative AI products.

• Familiarity with prompt design, conversational testing, or AI response evaluation.

• Experience with personalized recommendations or guided product discovery.

• Background in e-commerce, retail, consumer technology, or digital product platforms.

• Experience establishing scalable conversational design systems.

Portfolio or relevant work samples required. We're especially interested in seeing how you've designed intelligent conversations that help customers accomplish meaningful goals, not simply chatbot scripts or traditional UX copy.

The hourly pay range for this position (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location) is $50.00 to $70.00/hr.  Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
