External Communications Manager
TITLE: External Communications Manager
LOCATION: Remote
ANTICIPATED DURATION: From 05/05/2026 to 11/07/2026
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute communication strategies that highlight Waymo’s safety approach, research papers, and real-world performance data.
- Partner closely with Safety, Engineering, Legal and other cross-functional teams to align on the messaging and distill technical safety methodologies into accessible content, including blog, videos, social media, talking points, conference talks, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate media interviews and prepare key spokespeople for those.
- Cultivate relationships with relevant reporters and influencers.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
- Excellent storytelling & writing skills with a strong ability to simplify complex topics.
- Strong data analysis skills.

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $0.00 to $103.90 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location). Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
