Hardware Engineer
TITLE: Hardware Engineer
LOCATION: Mountain View, CA
ANTICIPATED DURATION: 5 months
Responsibilities:
- Design, assemble, and troubleshoot lab setups involving lasers, sensors, and optomechanical components.
- Write and maintain custom code to automate engineering tests and streamline data collection.
- Perform routine calibration of high-precision test systems.
- Conduct Design of Experiments, collect data, and perform analysis.
- Author detailed test reports and prepare presentations for the engineering team.
- Provide technical assistance across various projects, balancing priorities while working independently.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3 years work experience, including laboratory experience in optics & lasers, mechatronics, optomechanics, and software scripting.
- Experience handling optical components, optical imaging systems, laser physics, and laser safety protocols.
- Experience setting up embedded systems and integrating actuators & sensors for experiment control and data acquisition.
- Proficiency in writing scripts or programs in LabView, Python, Matlab, and/or C for embedded systems and data analysis.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with working in a clean room environment (ISO class 5/6/7).
- Experience in structured statistical testing methods (DOE).
- Experience with motion control systems and precision stages.
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $71.64 to $86.76 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
