Senior IT Project Manager
Location: Atlanta, GA – Downtown | Hybrid
Duration: 3-Year Contract with Potential to Convert to FTE
Employment: W2 Only – No C2C

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join a Gas Technology Services team. This individual will lead multiple, complex application development and technology projects, partnering with business stakeholders, IT teams, developers, vendors, and senior leadership to deliver projects successfully from initiation through implementation.
The Senior IT Project Manager will typically manage 3 – 6 concurrent projects ranging from approximately $500K–$900K each, with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, deliverables, and stakeholder communication.
This role requires a strong background managing application development projects through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in Agile, Waterfall, and/or hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple application development and technology projects from initiation through implementation and deployment.
  • Define project scope, objectives, requirements, deliverables, timelines, resource needs, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and ensure milestones and deliverables remain on schedule.
  • Manage 3–6 concurrent projects, typically ranging from $500K–$900K each.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and facilitate project meetings, planning sessions, and status reviews.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, application development teams, QA, IT leadership, and external vendors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and provide clear, consistent communication regarding project status, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Identify, assess, track, and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating critical concerns when appropriate.
  • Manage project scope, change requests, resources, budgets, and competing priorities.
  • Coordinate testing, UAT, validation, release readiness, and application deployment activities.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet business requirements and established quality standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, risk/issue logs, schedules, and change documentation.
  • Prepare and present project updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Foster collaboration and accountability across project teams to drive successful delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Active PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of IT project management experience, with significant experience managing application/software development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects through the full SDLC, from requirements and planning through development, testing, UAT, deployment, and implementation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, including project budgets, schedules, resources, risks, and dependencies.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and/or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams consisting of business stakeholders, developers, QA, technical resources, and external vendors.
  • Strong executive-level communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Clarity, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working within a formal PMO or enterprise project governance environment.
  • Experience managing large-scale enterprise application development or modernization initiatives.
  • Experience within the utility, energy, or gas industry.
  • Familiarity with release management, change management, application integrations, and production deployments.
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $65.00 to $75.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
