Security Engineer (Azure / AWS)
TITLE: Security Engineer (Azure / AWS)
LOCATION: Remote – EST ideally
ANTICIPATED DURATION: 9 months
Main Skills: Azure, some AWS, Zscaler, ZIA/ZPA, Sentinel SIEM, Tenable vulnerability scanning, JAMF, HIPAA
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with and provide first-contact support and guidance between new colleagues, existing Security team, and wider Product & Technology teams.
- Lead the documentation of existing systems and align to security program.
- Lead and track remediation work to completion with respect to integration into existing Security Controls.
- Continually identify gaps and propose remediation activities or projects.
- Be a key part of the cyber security team, with impact on the security of systems and applications.
- Model threats using the STRIDE model against new designs, ensuring appropriate protections are in place.
- Mitigate vulnerabilities across systems and help developers produce secure code.
- Evaluate and respond to security and compliance issues generated via analysis or automated tools.
- Work collaboratively across teams, impart expertise organization-wide.
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with technology teams to ensure security standards are met.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years’ experience in securing software or infrastructure in Cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS).
- Experience in securing systems in line with Well-Architected Frameworks (e.g., Azure Well-Architected).
- Network experience—including designing, managing, or troubleshooting networks.
- Deploying and configuring security tools such as EDR, system hardening, SaaS services.
- Applying security to networks, hosts, web applications, and cloud-native deployments.
- Working with key security toolsets such as asset management, vulnerability management, firewalls, SIEM, PAM, IDS/IPS, EDR/XDR, DLP, SWG, WAF, CSPM, CNAPP.
- Solid understanding of SAST / DAST / IAST / RASP security tools.
- Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and securing pipelines.
- Understanding attack tactics, techniques, and procedures, including use of the MITRE Attack framework.
- Inquisitive mindset with a passion for security and understanding of its impact on organizational success.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and native Azure/AWS technologies.
- Experience with threat modelling, NIST, and CIS frameworks.
- Knowledge of application security standards such as OWASP Top 10, SANS / CWE 25.
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $60.00 to $70.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
