Overview
We are seeking a Communications Designer to join a collaborative product team focused on creating clear, consistent, and customer-centered communication experiences across digital channels.
This role sits at the intersection of Content Design, UX Writing, Communication Strategy, and User Experience Design. You will help shape how customers receive, understand, and act on information through messaging frameworks, communication flows, notifications, guidance, and digital content experiences.
The ideal candidate is passionate about simplifying complex information, creating intuitive communication patterns, and partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences.
Responsibilities

Own end-to-end design execution for communication experiences from concept through delivery.

Create customer-facing communications that are clear, accessible, and aligned with established content and design standards.

Design and optimize messaging frameworks, communication flows, notifications, and customer guidance experiences.

Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, and Designers throughout the product development lifecycle.

Develop information architecture and content structures that improve usability and customer understanding.

Create and maintain communication patterns that align with broader design system standards and principles.

Contribute to the evolution and maintenance of communication-focused components and content standards within the design system.

Identify opportunities to improve consistency, clarity, and customer experience across digital touchpoints.

Conduct content QA, edge-case reviews, and validation to ensure quality and consistency.

Surface risks, dependencies, and experience considerations throughout the design process.

Support journey mapping activities to identify communication opportunities across customer experiences.

Prototype and test communication patterns, messaging approaches, and content experiences.

Help improve team processes and ways of working while reinforcing established design principles and standards.
Required Qualifications
-
5+ years of experience in Content Design, Communications Design, UX Writing, Content Strategy, Conversation Design, or related disciplines.

Strong experience designing customer-facing communication experiences for digital products.

Expertise in content strategy, messaging frameworks, information architecture, and communication design.

Exceptional written communication skills with strong grammar, editing, and proofreading abilities.

Demonstrated ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, customer-friendly language.

Experience creating content for digital products, applications, websites, or customer-facing platforms.

Strong understanding of accessibility principles and creating readable, usable written experiences.

Experience collaborating with Product, Engineering, Research, and Design partners.

Familiarity with design systems and scalable content patterns.

Experience working in Agile product environments.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Conversation Design, chatbot experiences, AI-assisted experiences, virtual assistants, or voice user interfaces (VUI).

Experience designing communication flows, decision trees, and conversational experiences.

Experience supporting AI-powered products or customer-facing conversational interfaces.
-
Background in UX Research, Journey Mapping, or Service Design.

Experience creating notification systems, onboarding experiences, or customer communication frameworks.

Experience supporting enterprise-scale digital products and complex customer journeys.

The hourly pay range for this position (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location) is $55.00 to $60.00/hr. Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
