Synergis’ client, the creator of a leading digital payments platform for the insurance industry, has engaged us is a search for a Senior Systems Architect, Production Team Lead to lead and manage a global team of talented software and quality assurance engineers.  

Senior Systems Architect, Production Team Lead | Background and Scope 

  • Leads a global team of software engineers and quality engineers
  • Engage with client teams to manage relationship and expectations
  • Works in a consultative fashion to improve communication, teamwork, and alignment among teams inside and outside of the organization. 
  • Understanding of overall architectural principles, frameworks, and standards. 
  • Drive strategic technology initiatives, working with Product Managers, other Architects, Engineers, SMEs and our client’s broader organization. 
  • Leads and collaborates with Production Support engineering teams to understand and monitor work queues for Continuous Improvement opportunities. 
  • Leads design reviews and code reviews. 
  • Establishes and documents engineering best practices while ensuring team adherence. 
  • Develops technical performance architecture that solves most complex performance issues. 
  • Serve as the lead for: 
    • Escalated events that create client disruption
    • Identification of root cause
    • Implementing associated preventative actions. 
  • Collaborates with Infrastructure teams to ensure that all platform capabilities that are Critical to Quality are instrumented and measured. 
  • Collaborate with: 
  • Quality Assurance team to remediate testing gaps that may lead to defects escaping to production. 
    • Security team to ensure on-going PCI compliance of platforms. 
    • Vendor Partners to identify and drive the implementation of Continuous Improvement to enhance Reliability and Performance. 
  • Analyzes and provides feedback on product strategy. 
  • Provides input into long-range product requirements, standard methodologies, and operational guidelines, with focus on continuous improvement of platform reliability and serviceability. 
  • Ensures that you are continuously raising the standard of engineering excellence.

Senior Systems Architect, Production Team Lead | Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (Master Degree Preferred) 
  • 15 years’ experience in the Information Technology arena, at least 3 years management or leadership experience in this field
  • 5+ years managing production support teams (development & quality assurance)
  • More than 10 years of software development experience (polyglot) 
  • Experience with cloud native architecture. 
  • Expert in or related experience with MySQL, PHP, C#, .NET Core, Azure, Java & Angular. 
  • Expert in SugarCRM
  • Proficiency in TDD, Domain Driven Architecture, CQRS, Design Patterns, and Clean and Secure Coding Standards. 
  • Experience working as an architect in insure-tech or fin-tech space with demonstrated success at designing for high volume, scalability, and availability. 
  • Previously involved with large scale implementations of Cloud Native Solutions, Containers, Microservices 
  • Mastery in multiple programming languages and platforms 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Ability to independently craft and deliver large complex projects 
  • Experience with Agile development methodology (e.g., Scrum), Scaled frameworks desirable 
  • Experience with international platform/product developer desirable (multilingual, multi-currency, data protection/privacy) desirable

Senior Systems Architect, Production Team Lead | Leadership Requirements

  • Experience coaching team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development 
  • Ability to work with other architects, principal architects, and Chief Security and Information Officers to shape the architectural vision and roadmap for the organization. 
  • Ability to drive long-term design strategies that span multiple complex projects, deliver technical reports and performance presentations to customers and at industry events 
  • Support and build an environment for transparent and open discussion of all issues 
  • Inclusive work style to involve the right people, from your team and others, to resolve critical issues. 

Senior Systems Architect, Production Team Lead | Other:

  • Ability to work for any US based company without sponsorship now or anytime in the future
  • 100% remote position
  • Position requires a “follow the sun” approach to production support and will require non-traditional hours in order to support critical activities related to the role.
