TITLE: Enterprise Data Architect
LOCATION: Atlanta, GA (hybrid)
POSITION TYPE: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end architecture and strategic direction of the Azure Databricks Lakehouse platform, including data ingestion, storage, processing, governance, and consumption frameworks.
  • Define and maintain enterprise architecture standards for the Lakehouse, including medallion design patterns, Delta Lake implementation, data modeling, metadata management, and platform scalability.
  • Architect and oversee near-real-time and batch replication of Customer Information System (CIS) data, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
  • Design and govern integration patterns supporting downstream applications, enabling secure and reliable data consumption.
  • Serve as the final architectural approval authority for standards, design patterns, data integration approaches, and technology decisions within the Customer Data Platform ecosystem.
  • Partner with data science, analytics, and business teams to establish scalable and secure architectural patterns supporting machine learning, AI, and advanced analytics.
  • Provide oversight and governance for vendor, consulting, and system integration partners, fostering collaboration aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Establish standards and best practices for data quality, lineage, cataloging, observability, and governance using tools such as Unity Catalog.
  • Lead architecture decisions for Change Data Capture (CDC), streaming, and data integration technologies.
  • Define logical and physical data models supporting operational reporting, BI, analytics, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to implement controls for data protection and privacy.
  • Design and maintain architecture patterns supporting high availability, disaster recovery, and operational resilience.
  • Provide technical leadership for Data Engineering teams, including architecture reviews, design guidance, and mentorship.
  • Develop and maintain architecture artifacts such as reference architectures, data flow diagrams, ADRs, standards, and platform roadmaps.
  • Support capacity planning and platform cost optimization activities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve the Lakehouse platform.
  • Support incident investigations and platform improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Serve as the enterprise authority on customer, billing, metering, and utility data architecture, ensuring consistency and interoperability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics platform engineering.
  • At least 3 years in a senior architecture or technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and governing large-scale cloud data platforms, preferably Azure-based Lakehouse architectures.
  • Deep expertise with Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Unity Catalog, and related Azure data services.
  • Strong experience with data ingestion, replication, ETL/ELT, and streaming architectures.
  • Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks Workflows, Delta Live Tables, Structured Streaming, Event Hubs, Kafka, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling, Data Vault, and Lakehouse patterns.
  • Experience with data quality, metadata management, lineage, and data governance tools.
  • Understanding of CDC technologies and replication frameworks such as Qlik Replicate, HVR, Fivetran, Debezium, or GoldenGate.
  • Experience designing secure data architectures, including access control, encryption, masking, and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with platform resiliency, high availability, disaster recovery, and observability practices.
  • Proven ability to establish architecture standards and drive implementation across teams.
  • Ability to develop architecture artifacts such as reference architectures, data flow diagrams, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Strong collaboration skills with enterprise stakeholders, vendors, and partners.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
– Supporting or implementing utility Customer Information Systems (CIS) such as Oracle C2M, CC&B, SAP IS-U, Cayenta, or similar. – Knowledge of utility business processes, including billing, meter-to-cash, revenue management, and regulatory reporting. – Experience developing solutions for operational reporting, analytics, and enterprise data products. – Familiarity with utility regulatory, privacy, and security standards, including NERC CIP and customer data protections. – Certifications in Azure, Databricks, or relevant cloud and data architecture topics.

The compensation range for this position is $150,000.00 to $167,000.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
