Materials Planner 
Peachtree City, Georgia | Hybrid (2 Days On-Site)
12+ Month Contract


About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Materials Planner / Purchasing Specialist to join a dynamic manufacturing and service repair operation in Peachtree City. This role is responsible for the analysis, planning, and procurement of component parts for service repair and remanufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong production background, sharp analytical skills, and the ability to manage supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and procure materials based on usage data and forecasts to meet service schedules while maintaining inventory at budgeted levels
  • Participate in developing short-term forecasts that account for economic trends and conditions affecting procurement
  • Develop purchasing strategies and objectives based on forecasted data
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers and internal service division teams to improve parts supply and overall performance
  • Draft and review purchase orders to ensure compliance with vendor selection, pricing, authorization requirements, and company policies
  • Negotiate cancellations, reschedules, and modifications to purchase orders in response to changing business requirements
  • Review specifications, performance terms, and acceptance criteria; adhere to procurement guidelines for repair parts, remanufactured units, and float stock
  • Interface with internal departments to report and resolve issues related to shipments, returns, and field failures
  • Manage documentation required for material shipment and customs clearance
  • Monitor and verify part number revisions, delivery dates, quantities, and pricing for accuracy
  • Attend weekly customer-facing meetings to report PO status and address action items
  • Advise internal teams and service shop personnel on material delivery status and engineering or demand-driven changes
  • Analyze supplier performance using established rating systems; resolve PO discrepancies and quality issues directly with suppliers
  • Prepare and execute supplier negotiations focused on pricing, delivery terms, and contractual agreements
  • Expedite deliveries and conduct follow-up as needed
  • Contribute to service department budget preparation and resolve supplier payment issues
  • Manage inbound routing and tracing; organize and control material storage; resolve delivery and receiving discrepancies
  • Analyze, plan, and manage obsolete materials and scrap; root cause inventory discrepancies and drive corrective actions
  • Identify process waste and lead continuous improvement initiatives; develop cost reduction, avoidance, and containment strategies
  • Maintain accurate records including contracts, bids, agreements, specifications, pricing, lead times, and receiving files
  • Prepare reports, charts, graphs, and statistical summaries in support of KPIs


Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel proficiency required — must be expert-level in pivot tables and advanced functions
  • Background in a production or manufacturing environment is required
  • Associate's degree (AA/AS) preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and participate in customer-facing meetings

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $25-30/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
