TITLE: Technical Writer

Responsibilities:

  • Design, draft, and maintain process maps, business process procedures, SOPs, job aids, performance support notebooks, and manual updates.
  • Schedule and facilitate working sessions with SMEs, reviewers, and advisors to gather input and translate decisions into clear documentation.
  • Conduct research and analysis to incorporate policy, vendor information, and SME input into standard work documentation.
  • Validate accuracy and completeness of deliverables before approval.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, project managers, and continuous improvement teams.
  • Support on-site visits and job walks to understand work practices.
  • Perform basic image editing and coordinate with media vendors.
  • Maintain existing documentation in response to process updates, standards changes, pilot projects, corrective actions, and safety workstreams.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience producing technical, procedural, or process documentation.
  • Ability to translate complex technical input into plain, usable language.
  • Strong facilitation skills for SME working sessions.
  • Experience working in utilities, energy, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments (strongly preferred).
  • Strong organizational, writing, and version control skills.
  • Comfort working collaboratively across organizational units.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photo Editing Software, SharePoint, OneDrive, Acrobat, Outlook, TEAMS, Visio, and Co-Pilot.
  • 5–8+ years of technical writing experience or 3–5+ years of technical writing experience plus strong utility/industrial/field operations exposure.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in utilities, energy, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments (strongly preferred).
  • Strong organizational, writing, and version control discipline.
  • Comfort working collaboratively across organizational units.

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $16.00 to $44.63 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location). Benefits available to full-time employees: medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401k and commuter benefits.
