Contract to hire

Our Client is seeking a Content Management Specialist to bridge the gap between content vision, CMS capabilities and frontend content presentation. This role serves as the crucial liaison between our content teams, product managers, CMS developers and UX designers — ensuring that the tools we use to create content are intuitive, flexible and capable of delivering standout digital experiences to our audience.

This is not a developer role — but you should be technically fluent and deeply familiar with CMS workflows, frontend content experiences, and content needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Content-Driven Product Planning:
  • Collaborate with content leads to translate content goals into structured, scalable CMS and template features.
  • Identify functionality gaps in our current CMS and propose impactful improvements.
  • Collaborate with product, CMS and frontend teams to prototype, test and iterate on templates and components.
  • CMS Strategy & Optimization: Define how content features (e.g., collapsible text, image galleries, multimedia embeds) are implemented in the CMS.
  • Advocate for ease of use, flexibility, and scalability in CMS design.
  • Map workflows for different content types and use cases.
  • Feature Requirements & Communication
  • Draft clear feature requirements specs for engineers based on content needs. This will require an in-depth level of understanding of how CMS and Frontend communicate to deliver a user experience
  • Facilitate feedback loops between content teams and product/engineering.
  • Work closely with designers, product managers, and developers to prototype and test new components.
  • Content Presentation & UX Standards
  • Own guidelines for how content is visually presented (video placements, headers, expandable sections, etc.).
  • Champion consistency in frontend experiences while supporting innovation.
  • Cross-Team Liaison Work
  • Act as the go-between for content and product/engineering teams.
  • Represent the needs of writers, editors and content strategists in product discussions.
  • Facilitate feedback loops and feature testing with content staff.
  • Ensure alignment between content goals, CMS capabilities, and frontend design systems.
  • Training & Documentation
  • Create internal documentation and guides for newly released features or workflows
  • Train editors and producers on new content tools and CMS functionality.

Success Metrics

  • Time-to-launch for new content formats/templates
  • Editor satisfaction with CMS tools
  • CMS workflows are optimized for flexibility and efficiency
  • Editors are empowered to create engaging, multimedia-rich content without friction
  • Reduction in support tickets or CMS workarounds
  • Successful rollout and usage rates of new templates/components
  • Consistency of content UX across platforms
  • The content team has a clear voice in CMS and product development cycles

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years in content production, content systems, digital strategy or a related role
  • Experience working with product, design and/or engineering teams
  • Proficiency in writing functional documentation or feature specs
  • Familiarity with front-end content design, JSON, HTML
  • Familiar with how modern CMS platforms work
  • Experience with multimedia formats, interactive content, or mobile publishing
  • Able to translate complex content needs into product-friendly requirements and complex product architecture to content friendly explanations.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative environment
