Seeking a DevOps Migration Specialist to lead the transition of systems from Azure DevOps to GitHub. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in DevOps environments, particularly with Azure DevOps and GitHub, and a deep understanding of YAML pipelines, workflows, and automation. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing migration strategies, optimizing workflows, and automating processes using PowerShell, JavaScript, and Ruby. The candidate should be adept at creating custom actions, workflows, extensions, and tasks and possess the ability to assess and solve migration challenges by providing functional equivalents in GitHub. Strong problem-solving skills, a confident approach to unfamiliar languages and code, and the ability to convert functionalities across platforms are essential. Experience in handling large-scale migrations and a background in automation are highly desirable. The role demands collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless transitions and effective communication throughout the migration process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the migration of workflows and pipelines from Azure DevOps to GitHub.
- Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell, JavaScript, and Ruby to streamline migration processes.
- Analyze existing Azure DevOps workflows and design equivalent GitHub workflows to ensure seamless functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and provide technical solutions for migration challenges.
- Evaluate and enhance existing migration tools and processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure all migrated systems meet security and compliance standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members on best practices for DevOps and migration.
- Continuously monitor and optimize workflows for performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or closely related field) with at least 5+ years of relevant IT experience.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Work great in a team environment and as an individual contributor on solo efforts with minimal supervision.
- 3+ years of DevOps experience in application delivery then transformation to deployment automation.
- Proven ability to follow priorities and timelines.
- Proven experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub, specifically in workflow and pipeline management.
- Strong understanding of YAML pipelines, branch policies, and status checks.
- Proficiency in automation scripting using PowerShell, JavaScript, and Ruby.
- Experience with migration projects, preferably from Azure DevOps to GitHub.
- Ability to analyze and convert code from one language to another as needed.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Track record & passion for bringing high-quality automation, including continuous deployments, automated service failover, etc. into a team.
The compensation range for this position is $70 to $90
(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
