Senior Product Designer (with Design Ops Focus)
Location: Remote (U.S. Based)
Employment Type: W2 Contract (Initial 6-months with possible extension)
Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to join a high-impact team replatforming 6,000 branded sites to a modern, tokenized design system on Builder.io. This is a hybrid role that blends traditional product design responsibilities with design operations work to help streamline processes and scale component libraries across a multi-brand digital ecosystem.
This position will play a key role in building a design system that supports luxury, premium, and mainstream brands—each with distinct identities, but unified under one flexible platform. You’ll work closely with other designers, developers, and operations specialists to create scalable, repeatable design patterns and accelerate design-to-development workflows.
Responsibilities:
-
Design scalable, responsive components using a tokenized Design Language System (DLS)
-
Collaborate on atomic design principles (e.g., font hierarchy, color, logos, patterns, componentry)
-
Develop UI patterns that allow for brand-specific variations within a shared design architecture
-
Participate in rapid design iteration through weekly workshops and feedback loops
-
Partner with design ops and engineering to implement component libraries in Builder.io
-
Support cross-functional alignment between design, content, development, and brand teams
-
Help define and optimize the asset creation process for dynamic component variations
-
Produce documentation to guide developers and future designers
Qualifications:
-
5+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio of responsive web work
-
Experience with design systems, tokenization, and component-based design
-
Working knowledge of design ops principles and tools
-
Familiarity with Builder.io or similar headless CMS/front-end platforms is highly preferred
-
Comfortable designing for multi-brand ecosystems
-
Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on craft and consistency
-
Strong collaboration and communication skills
