TITLE: Assistant Area Manager
LOCATION: Chicagoland, IL

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across assigned 24/7 customer sites, focusing on safety and service levels.
  • Monitor performance metrics, develop process improvements, and resolve service-impacting issues.
  • Ensure all locations have necessary equipment for operations, including maintenance and rentals.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and performance management to site personnel to meet business needs.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, team building, and training for managers and drivers.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees while growing the team.
  • Coordinate logistics activities with internal and external customers to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Ensure employees deliver high levels of customer service across assigned sites.
  • Hold site managers accountable for safety standards and resolve safety-related issues.
  • Conduct safety observations and coaching sessions to reinforce safety adherence.
  • Escalate safety incidents and unresolved compliance issues to the Area Manager.
  • Foster communication, collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and a productive team environment.
  • Promote a business partner and ownership mindset within the team.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Related field with 3+ years’ previous business experience, ideally in supply chain, transportation, or related field.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • BA/BS in logistics preferred.
  • Working knowledge of domestic carrier services, rules, and regulations.
  • Understanding and prevention of critical safety issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, E-Plan, Geotab).
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing market and company objectives.
  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Solutions-oriented with critical thinking and leadership skills.
  • Strong ethical and integrity standards.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to navigate challenges with optimism, respect, and dedication.

Preferred Experience:

  • Valid CDL license preferred
  • Experience using or willingness to learn AI/LLM and automation tools.

The compensation range for this position is $72,800.00 to $76,500.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
